Stuff is finally starting to happen on the kitchen front. The deadlines are forcing me to make the decisions I've been having trouble making. (Maybe I should go back to therapy for this indecisiveness, I really don't know why it's so hard for me. Maybe because I've been burned by bad color choices before, maybe I'm afraid I have a longevity—will it look dated in ten years—fear, maybe I want to make sure everyone else likes what I pick, maybe I don't have a clear vision of what I want my kitchen to look like or feel like or the mood it should exude so I can't pick things to go with this absent vision.) I finally picked a sink and ordered it. I finally picked a faucet and ordered it. I'm very close to picking a counter top color. I going with glass tile as a backsplash, I just don't know what color yet.
B, my builder is coming on Monday to take the base cabinets out. Then the floor guy comes on Tuesday to repair the floor and put down new tile where the old cabinets were. There's no turning back now.
My living room is starting to look like a yard sale. I've started emptying out the base cabinets into boxes. I know I'm going to get overwhelmed and I hate that. Too much in there, and too much stuff we never use, I know I'll have to be make more decisions, this time about what to purge. And, I'm not looking forward to not having a kitchen for a couple weeks.
On top of all this, I haven't lost the 10 pounds to get down to trophy wife status for my husband's thirty year high school reunion this weekend. (So I won't be at home emptying out cabinets! Argh!) I'm kidding (really!) about being a trophy wife, I'm a little too old, and I think I look pretty good as it is. But I gotta figure out what outfit to pack. Sheesh, another decision....

I hear you. This year is my 30th as well, but since I just made the cross-country trip to visit family, I most likely will not return for the reunion. Let them all remember me from the 10th when I lost all that weight - lol! Michele says have a good time at the reunion:)
Have fun at the reunion, but more to the point, have fun with the new kitchen when it is finally finished: LOML and I went through this process a couple of years ago, and it is still tremendously wonderful: every time we go into the kitchen (which is a lot, as we both love to cook) we look at each other and can't believe how fortunate we are to have such a lovely kitchen!
Michele gave me directions today,
Good luck with it!

At least you (or your husband) are having a reunion. My graduating class, 1981, came from the height of the Apathetic Revolution with it's battle cry, "Not me!" No one did anything and nothing got done. It was a miracle that a 5, 10, 15 and 20 year happened at all, last minute affairs that they were. Maybe it's better that way. Thirty year? I'm not holding my breath!
Black Granite - you can't go wrong with black granite.
Michele sent me,
Mike
Thanks for your visit, Anne....
About your kitchen? Just pick everything you would like and know that if you like it, it will always be 'in style'....
I know, easy for me to say...lol!
I hope you get just what you want :) My mom is very indecisive too. My dad and sister finally just bought everything and re-did the kitchen/Dining room while she was at work. She ended up LOVING it. Im sure whatever you choose will look lovely! I cant wait to see pictures. Here via Michele
Kitchen redecorating!
Oh what fun, I'd love to redecorate my counterspace (or lack therof) My 17 year old & her Boyfriend painted my kitchen for me for mother's day though so that part could stay!
Here from Micheles
Hey. Sort of here via Michele as I think we posted simultaneous comments.
You have my sympathy on the kitchen. I'd rather move than redecorate.
Cheers.
Wow Annie. Had you imagined your request for psychoanalysis would round up so much help?
Countertops can be changed if in ten years you hate it. When you realize you can change your mind later, it takes the pressure off.
I am confident you will make great choices... since I am hoping to copy them for my kitchen remodel. :-)
Maybe some golf will help reduce the stress?
Stopping by to say hello...
Oh, I once lived through a kitchen renovation, it was not fun. However, the results are worth it. I agree with oldold lady of the hills, simply choose what you love.
Have fun at the reunion and I am certain you will choose the perfect dress or outfit. As, Mr. Althouse said: Black Granite - you can't go wrong with black granite. Oh wait, I think he was referring to counters and not dresses, at least I hope he was. (wink)
p.s. Thank you Anne for participating in my special comment game a few days ago. I do appreciate it,
Oh, and yes, I sent me!
Michele sent me over, Anne.
I went over to look at your picture on your profile page and I don't think you have anything to worry about at the reunion. :-)
As for the kitchen, even if you have small regrets about some of your decisions, you're going to love the newness of it so much that none of the small stuff will bother you. A new kitchen is so wonderful to have!
you must be a Libra....just keeping repeating "nothing is forever"
AND you look fantastic just as you are. Breathe....
