Fighting Self Doubt

In the last week, I've gotten four more Girl Scout vests to work on. I'm proud of my work, and I think it looks good, but I'm starting to think about (or maybe obsess about) quality and customer service, and what if the moms don't like what I've done to their daughter's vest. I tell myself if they could have done a better job, they would have done it themselves and not have hired me. But still, I set up this business without a reputation, I am just someone who could and would do the sewing. Anyway, only time will tell, I guess — will my clients come back for another year after this one? Will I be swamped beyond belief? or just be a sad memory of an old bat who tried?

Fighting Boredom

I finished the seventh pair of wool socks, AM's pair, wasn't available for the group photo, but here are the rest of the gift pairs. I still should make another pair but maybe I'll take a break for a while. I've picked back up the pair of corn fiber hibiscus-colored socks I've been making for myself. I have made real progress in the last week and only have the toe to work and I'll be done. Whoohoo!

Those are really cool. I am jealous but then, I've already told you that!

And why would you of so great talent be worried those moms won;t appreciate your work? I just bet you they will be quite grateful and will perhaps tip you...

Hey, if they don't like 'em, they can always do it themselves!

You'll have a lot of grateful girl scouts.

The vests look wonderful. Much better than the girl scout vest I used to wear but then I had to sew my badges on myself.

Great socks! I haven't got the patience to sit and do something like that.

Regarding the vests, I'm sure the girls and their mothers will be very grateful and happy with the work you do for them.

Take care and I hope you're having a good weekend.

Anne, thanks for visiting my blog tonight. A few friends of mine made a B&W quilt with a touch of Red and it was awesome. I'm just going for the B&W.

Oh...you knit too...so do I. Love those orange socks...the pattern looks really pretty. BTW, I enlarged the photo and saw that the yarn was made from Corn fiber??? Do tell me about that!!!

Your clients are thrilled! You are probably undercharging. The picky ones do it themselves anyway, so don't worry about those guys.

I love my socks too. I betcha you might have even knit me a beautiful pair for Christmas and I wouldn't have had to break my leg for them!

I'm looking forward to seeing those fishies. I'll walk over soon!

Those sox look yummy! And the self-doubt thing? Welcome to the human race. And yeah, it might be possible that one or two of those folks could do a better job themselves (although I doubt it) but the fact is, if they wanted to they would and they don't. You are providing a valuable service and they appreciate it!
