I drive a minivan. Am I automatically a "soccer mom?" Someone referred to me as one and I balked at the idea. My kids don't play soccer, therefore I'm not a soccer mom, Right?
I have avoided the minivan personna for awhile by not getting one. I love a car but vans sure are looking good now that I haul long-legged kids around and lots of baggage.... I guess it's a percerption by other people unless a person buys into the lifestyle. What amkingsfield said. I don't think I could EVER be mistook for a soccer mom! I'm too "out there".
I am a fifty-something mom of two, wife, a messy housekeeper, and a retired computer programmer. I enjoy golf, quilting, knitting, pottery and racking up steps on my fitbit.

For many who like sweeping generalizations, you are. But those who know you know otherwise.
Those soccer - or football, or dance moms can be scary.
